Box Office Wars
Terms of Service

The short, honest version.

Last updated July 5, 2026.

1 · What this is

Box Office Wars is a free game about predicting weekend box-office results. It costs nothing to play, pays nothing to win, and involves no wagering, prizes, or anything of monetary value. Scores, ratings, and leaderboards exist for fun and bragging rights only. By creating an account or playing, you accept these terms.

2 · The numbers can be wrong

Everything in the game runs on data from third-party sources: film titles, posters, and trailers come from TMDB, and box-office figures are gathered automatically from publicly available charts. These sources can be incomplete, delayed, revised after the fact, or simply wrong — and our automated matching can make mistakes too. Prices, estimates, provisional scores, and anything else derived from this data are best-effort, not guarantees. Final weekly scores use figures reviewed and approved by the game's admin, and those scoring decisions are final. None of it is financial information or advice of any kind.

3 · Your account

You need a working email address to sign in (directly or via Google). Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account. Pick a display name that won't make your league commissioner sigh. We can rename, suspend, or remove accounts that abuse the game, other players, or the service.

4 · Fair play

One account per person. No exploiting bugs (tell us instead — you'll get credit), no automated play, no scraping the service to death. Leagues are run by their commissioners; joining one means accepting that they can manage their own roster.

5 · Privacy

We store your email (for signing in and game emails like lock reminders), your display name, and your picks and results. That's it — no ads, no selling data, no trackers beyond a session cookie that keeps you logged in. Game emails can be ignored freely; sign-in email is essential to the service. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

6 · No warranty

This is an independent hobby project provided as-is, with no warranties of any kind. It may go down, lose data, or change at any time. To the maximum extent allowed by law, the game and its operator aren't liable for any damages arising from playing it — which, given that nothing is at stake, should be easy to live with.

7 · Changes

These terms may change as the game grows; the “last updated” date above will move when they do. Playing after a change means you accept it. Questions: reminders@boxofficewars.com.
